Braai Style smart cooking accessories
Period: 2010
With the launch of Braai Style, a complete new line of barbecue accessories, the South African company Cadac secures its position as an innovative barbecue brand. The Braai Style line was designed by the Rotterdam-based design firm WAACS Design & Consultancy.
The most striking product in the new line is the Magnetic Grill Tool Set. The set consists of a fork and a spatula, each of which contains a double magnet in the handle. When they are placed one on top of the other they join to form a barbecue tong. The sloping curve of the joined handles in combination with the magnets make it easy to press the tong closed, and it springs immediately back into place when released. By turning the fork around and securing it onto the spatula, the tong changes from a large grabbing tool to a hamburger flipper. In this way, two instruments can form four barbecue tools. The Magnetic Grill Tool Set comes in a stainless steel version as well as heat-resistant polyamid plastic.
Another eye-catching component of the accessory line is the uniquely designed series of All-Purpose Cookware, made of thick, hard anodized aluminum with fireproof flight case handles. The pots can be used on the stove as well as on the grill, and with their matt grey coating they also belong on the dinner table. Hard anodized aluminum is a favorite of professional cooks: Aluminum is an excellent conductor, while the coating is three times harder than steel and therefore stands up to the use of metal utensils. Due to their square form the pans have smaller dimensions than round pans of the same volume. The lightweight pots can be nestled and are therefore compact when stored. This saves space in kitchen cabinets, on campsites and in the car. Usually the downside to hard anodized pans is their higher cost. In this case, sophisticated production and eliminating the need for expensive finishing have made it possible to put professional quality within everyone’s reach. The series consists of a 5-liter and 3-liter frying pan with a lid, a 1.5-liter steel pan with a lid, a warmer tray (roasting/oven dish), and a poultry roaster (chicken roasting rack).
The Braai Style line further includes: - A cast-iron grill plate with removable handles, both surfaces to be used on the barbecue: The smooth surface is suitable for fish and vegetables while the ribbed side is for grilling meat. - A Dutch oven stewing pot of enameled cast-iron, suitable for use on the grill or an open fire. The sinus shaped edge of pot and lid allows adjustment of the lid opening (vario-venting). The lid can also be used as a grill plate. - A luxury stainless steel skewer set, each easily distinguished from the other by differently shaped rings on the ends. - A pepper and salt mill with an improved filling principle. Plastic bowls and a colander, which due to their sine wave shape function as bowls with fitted lids.
